Description: Part of a group show at The Flag Art Foundation, NYC, Robert Therrien's "Untitled (Table & Six Chairs)" plays with our sense of perception and memory, offering a perfectly ordinary dining room table and accompanying chairs that are nonetheless over 10 feet tall, crowding the ceiling of the facility. The intent is to jar viewers into revisiting their own childhood, when everyday objects did indeed seem this large.
This piece, weighing over 5,000 pounds, is not made from wood, but rather through steel and aluminum, artfully hidden by a trompe-l’œil painting technique.
Update(June 2019): Robert Therrien has passed away at the age of 71.
